This weekend kicks off a brand-new festival in Sarasota. SaraSolo2015 celebrates the solo performer in a variety of art forms, with shows at the historic Crocker Memorial Church in Pioneer Park Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21 and 22, and again Feb. 28 and March 1.

The festival offers mime, dance, music, improv, theater art and more from artists such as Bill Bowers, Christine Alexander, Roxanne Fay, Gabriel Ortiz and many more. It’s the brainchild of well-known Sarasota-based actress Annie Morrison, her ex-husband and fellow actor Blake Walton, and managing director David A. Coyle; both Morrison and Walton are presenting solo shows of their own.

There will also be a number of lectures, classes and other experiences Feb. 23-27 in several locations. For full schedule and ticket info, head to gottavan.strikingly.com. And for more background on Annie Morrison, check out this article from Sarasota Magazine’s own Mr. Chatterbox.
