Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation (SMHF) recently awarded a $10 million grant to the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute at Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH). Funds will be directed toward the development and expansion of programs and services.

SMHF awards SMH grants in the areas of patient care, technology, clinical research, staff education and facilities; this grant is focused on patient care, specifically oncology nurse navigation, genetic counseling, lung cancer screening, breast health diagnostics and treatment. Other areas that will benefit from the grant include the development of medical directorships, the expansion of the care team for the oncology tower’s inpatient units, the cancer registry and the new Symptom Management Clinic.
