The carport is one of 20 semifinalists in the Department of Energy's American-Made Solar Prize Round 5 contest, a competition designed to spark U.S. solar energy innovation. If selected for the next round, Ginsberg-Klemmt has a chance at a $100,000 award. Ginsberg-Klemmt will also represent New College at an upcoming student entrepreneur workshop in Tempe, Arizona, sponsored by VentureWell, an organization that funds early-stage innovators.
