Summer just got more bearable.
After months of inaction, Congress on Thursday approved $1.1 billion in federal funding to fight the Zika virus.
Biostatisticians at the University of Florida and other institutions are estimating that the number of non-travel-related Zika infections in Florida could reach 400 before the end of the summer.
Out for Blood
The disease is just the latest threat in Florida’s long-running war against mosquitoes.
Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Sarasota, on Monday announced his support for an additional $1.9 billion in funding requested by President Obama to contain and eradicate the Zika virus.
