A bill that passed the U.S. House aims to designate the river as “scenic,” which would protect it from development and maintain it for future generations.
The Florida Society for Ethical Ecotourism recently recognized several ecotour operators in Sarasota and Manatee counties for their outstanding business practices.
The Sarasota-based ecotourism nonprofit Ecko recently announced a new series of trips, including excursions on Sarasota Bay, the Myakka River and the Manatee River.
The plan calls for improving existing parks around the city and positioning the city as an ecotourism destination, with opportunities for paddling, hiking and swimming.
