Ten Million Dollar Expansion Underway with the Child Protection Center

Demand for Child Abuse Services Rising Alongside Population Boom - Children Can't Be Left to Suffer

Presented by Child Protection Center August 20, 2026

Every year, the Child Protection Center (CPC) reaches over 50,000 local children, caregivers, educators, and community members through child abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment services. As the community continues to grow — particularly in South Sarasota County, where North Port has experienced a population growth of over 200% since 2000 — the need for these services has grown as well.

In recent years, CPC’s service numbers have ballooned to annual averages of:

  • over 3,300 abuse reports reviewed,
  • over 20,000 children educated on personal safety, and
  • over 4,000 hours conducted of highly specialized, trauma-informed therapy for survivors.

No child should have to wait for therapy services after they've suffered through abuse due to lack of funds and space. We REFUSE to fail our community’s children. That’s why the Child Protection Center is expanding.

The nonprofit has launched a $10 million campaign to expand its Keith D. Monda Family Campus of Healing, located in North Port. The project will feature the construction of a 7,000 sq. ft. facility specially designed for supporting children and families who’ve experienced trauma. The additional space will also expand CPC’s capacity for prevention education, critical interventions and medical assessments, as well as supervised safe family visitations.

Large-scale fundraising such as this doesn’t happen without a community that believes in what we’re building. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Sarasota and DeSoto communities, we are pleased to share that over $7.1 million has been raised to support the children and survivors of child abuse in critical need of the Monda Campus expansion.
