The Child Protection Center (CPC) is delighted to share the news of their next phase of expansion - the Keith D. Monda Family Campus of Healing. This growth is made possible thanks to a catalytic gift from Keith D. Monda and Veronica Brady.

The expansion of the Monda Campus includes the construction of a 7,000 square foot facility that will allow CPC to augment its programming and meet the rapidly increasing need for child abuse services in South Sarasota County. The building plans are being designed specifically to support healing and safety for children and families in crisis, ensuring families in South County will have accessible, compassionate, and specialized trauma-informed care close to home.

Quick Facts:

  • North Port has experienced population growth of more than 200% since 2000, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in the country.
  • CPC serves Sarasota and DeSoto Counties as the region’s only nonprofit solely dedicated to the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse.
  • The organization reviewed over 3,500 local reports of child abuse last year alone.
Children are given a safe space to tell their story and begin to heal

“This expansion represents more than bricks and mortar—it represents our community’s commitment to children who need us most,” says Doug Staley, Executive Director of the Child Protection Center. “With increased space and enhanced therapy rooms, we will serve more children, more quickly, and more effectively than ever before.”

How You Can Make a Difference:

  • CPC is fortunate to announce not one, but two different match opportunities in April (Child Abuse Prevention Month) for donations in support of this expansion:

    • The Giving Challenge. This is an exciting 24-hour online giving event happening noon to noon, April 15th-16th. Your gift will go further thanks to The Patterson Foundation, who will contribute a 1:1 match for donations, up to $100 per donor, per nonprofit, made online during the Giving Challenge. All proceeds from the Giving Challenge will benefit our expanding campus and services. Click here to view CPC’s profile.

    • Gulf Coast Community Foundation April Match Challenge. Gulf Coast and their donors are launching a $500,000 challenge match in support of the project, doubling the impact of gifts made by the community. The challenge match kicks off on April 1st, the first day of Child Abuse Prevention Month, to further highlight the critical need for child abuse services and connect the community with CPC’s resources. Donations can be made by clicking here.

  • For our fellow ice cream lovers, you can also join us Wednesday, April 15th at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams at University Town Center (190 N Cattlemen Rd #4, Sarasota) from 4-7 PM for an ice cream give back event, with 25% of all in store sales being donated back to CPC — including scoops, pints, and merchandise!
