Breaking the Cycle of Poverty for Manatee County Students

Presented by Take Stock in Children of Manatee County March 18, 2026

Take Stock in Children of Manatee County is closing the gap on generational poverty by empowering at-risk, underserved students throughout our community. Many of our students are first-generation college-bound, facing economic and social challenges. Through mentorship, scholarships, and college and career readiness programs, we give students the support and resources they need to succeed academically and build brighter futures.

Our Programs:

  • Mentorship: Every student is paired with a trained volunteer mentor who provides guidance, encouragement, and a trusted adult to navigate school and life.

  • College Readiness Coaching: Students receive support with college applications, scholarships, career exploration, and life skills development.

  • Scholarships & Financial Support: Graduates in good standing receive Florida Prepaid tuition scholarships and ongoing post-secondary support, including housing, meals, technology, and mental health resources.

  • Additional Services: Tutoring, technology access, transportation, and career exposure opportunities help students overcome barriers and reach their full potential.

Who We Serve: Nearly 400 students in grades 6–12 across Manatee County benefit from our programs, including communities like Bradenton, Palmetto, and Lakewood Ranch. Our students are diverse and come from households near the federal poverty level. Many qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and face financial obstacles that can make education a challenge. All are considered at-risk, and most are first-generation college-bound. With the right guidance and support, they demonstrate incredible resilience and achieve extraordinary outcomes.

How You Can Help: Your support directly funds mentorship programs, scholarships, tutoring, technology access, and other essential services that give students the tools to succeed. Every contribution helps cover laptop loans, career exploration programs, post-secondary scholarships, and basic needs support. Together, we can empower Manatee County youth to break the cycle of poverty and transform their communities for generations to come.

Make an Impact Today: Join us in giving students the guidance, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive. Every gift makes a difference. Learn more or donate at https://bit.ly/TSICMGivingC26.
