Heather McNamee, a survivor of child abuse and now a highly trained therapist, finds purpose and healing at the Child Protection Center in providing trauma-informed treatment to children who have also suffered abuse.

With over 3,300 reports of child physical abuse, sexual abuse, and/or neglect placed locally last year, the experiences of Heather’s childhood are a harsh reality for far too many children. It is up to each of us to take a stand and say "No, I will not accept this."

Now in its 45th year, the Child Protection Center provides life-saving services for children who are victims of or are vulnerable to child abuse. Serving Sarasota and DeSoto Counties, our extensive programming brings prevention education, intervention services, and specialized therapeutic care to heal the hearts of survivors.

At the core, our mission is to bring children to safety. More than that, we are on a mission to break the cycle of child abuse and prevent it from occurring in the first place. It is through the courage, advocacy, and donations of our community that CPC can not only continue the fight against abuse, but strengthen against it. Together, we can truly make a difference.
