On August 14, 2024, Sarasota's philanthropic circles gathered at Café L’Europe for a memorable evening, marking the announcement of Women in Philanthropy’s Inaugural Honorees. Nominated by five of Sarasota's most respected foundations, these women are recognized for their profound impact on the community through their dedication of time, talent, and resources. The Honorees, described as paragons of generosity and integrity, will be celebrated at an exclusive Soirée this fall, where 300 distinguished guests will honor their service and commitment to philanthropy.

This event aims not only to recognize the Honorees but also to inspire future generations of charitable leaders. Each Honoree will be featured in a printed calendar that highlights their chosen charities, a personal quote regarding their philanthropic philosophy as well as their portrait. The Soirée will also pay tribute to Marie Selby of Selby Gardens, incorporating the Selby Orchid Show into the evening’s festivities. Selby Gardens will handle reservations and share in half of the event’s profits, with the remaining funds distributed by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation to the Honorees' chosen charities.

The setting for this illustrious event is Cap Joie, a replica of an 18th-century French hôtel particulier, and the residence of the Honorable Katherine Harris. The evening will commence with an exclusive reception for donors, patrons, and underwriters. Set in the autocourt, additional guests will have the opportunity to capture memorable moments in a picturesque carriage with photographs. Women in Philanthropy’s Creative Director, Tatyana Stewart, is partnering with Director Iain Webb, of the Sarasota Ballet and a global fashion brand to deliver an unforgettable experience throughout the transcendent home

The Soirée will culminate in a heartfelt program paying tribute to the Honorees, two live auction items, and a gourmet seated dinner. A premium VIP experience is available. The night will continue with live music from a fantastic band, a cozy cigar lounge featuring hand rolled cigars and fine spirits, all while dancing along the shimmering shore of Sarasota Bay. A December “Wrap Party” with a festive Christmas theme will serve as a final celebration, thanking the Honorees, donors, patrons, underwriters, sponsors and committee members for their support and contributions.
