Dr. Scott J. Engel admits to being a “perfectionist,” a trait at the core of his honor as a Castle Connolly’s Top Doctor. Receiving this honor every year since 2015, the board-certified plastic surgeon is known for diligent attention to detail and compassionate care.

In a time where social media and selfies are a part of mainstream entertainment, expectations must be defined. Filters and photo editing give people unrealistic ideas of natural beauty. From the overwhelmingly positive reviews he’s received, patients agree. Dr. Engel sees communication as a factor foundational to everything he does in his practice. “I take time to focus on each patient’s concerns so we can determine what is most important to them, discuss options, and address the means to achieve their goals as a team.” His philosophy has always been to treat patients as if they are his family.

Dr. Engel’s practice covers all aspects of cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body. He performs many state-of-the-art procedures including highly cohesive silicone breast implants, casually termed “gummy bear” for their shape-retentive quality. He often implements the use of new absorbable meshes for more effective long-term breast support. He uses advanced three-dimensional imaging to help patients see a simulation of their results.

Dr. Engel also performs fat grafting to the face, breast, hands, and buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift). In addition, he performs mommy makeovers and labiaplasty.

Dr. Engel was honored that Sarasota Plastic Surgery Center was selected as the ‘Top Cosmetic/Plastic Surgery Practice’ by the readership of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune in the 2024 Reader’s Choice Awards.
