5 Contemporary Artists All Under One Roof This Weekend at Drew Marc Gallery
The show Ultramodern Heartbeat features brand-new contemporary pieces by five artists who are revolutionizing the field of contemporary art on a national scale. This body of work as a whole comes together to create the ideal example of contemporary excellence. The VIP reception will be held on Friday, March 8 from 6PM-9PM at Drew Marc Gallery featuring an artist talk from Andrea Dasha Reich & Bojitt. On Saturday night during Artwalk, James Koskinas & Julie Schumer will be in town from Santa Fe, New Mexico to discuss their most recent work and their journey as exhibitors for Art Basel Weekend.
Julie Schumer & James Koskinas are a husband-and-wife duo that paint together in the same studio but have contrasting methods. James creates loose portraits that are a synthesis of all the people he has recently encountered whereas Julie is a highly successful abstract expressionist. Their tagline “same palette, two different techniques” describes this process perfectly. The dynamic pair had a tremendously successful exhibit at the 2023 Art Basel Weekend. So much so that it was featured nationally in American Art Collector, a publication that highlights the nation’s top contemporary and representational artists, in December 2023. They are also featured in the March 2024 issue of Architectural Digest.
Sarasota favorite Andrea Dasha Reich is a major force in modern art. In the 1990s, she pioneered resin painting, and ever since, her inventions have catapulted her to widespread acclaim. Her resin artworks are unlike those of any other artist because of their vivid colors and unique movement. She uses an innovative and genuinely unique approach, self-pigmenting all the hues. Her most recent creations are multilayered wonders that enhance any space.
Ya La'Ford has multiple public installations and murals throughout Tampa Bay in addition to being included in nearly every Florida museum. She is a well-known member of the Florida art scene and the newest addition to Drew Marc Gallery. She uses a variety of media, geometric patterns, and vivid colors to depict the human experience in her artwork. Ya La'ford's main objective is to use her art to drastically transform the social, cultural, and historical contexts of creative expression.
Bojana "Bojitt" Ilic moved to Tampa Bay from the Chicago region. She is a painting-focused Serbian artist whose paintings, murals, and commissions are all connected by gesture and intention. Bojitt's most recent series consists of a combination of spray paint, acrylic, and vivid hues. Bojitt portrays tales of resilience through her art. She uses bold colors and textures to effectively portray the emotions and themes in these stories.
