Sarasota Concert Association Presents the Detroit Symphony, Rotterdam Philharmonic, and Pianist Bruce Liu
The Sarasota Concert Association presents the Detroit Symphony on Monday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Van Wezel. Described as “a new generation’s cello superstar,” world-renowned cellist Alisa Weilerstein will join the Detroit Symphony in Elgar’s popular Cello Concerto. Music Director Jader Bignamini also leads the orchestra in Rimsky-Korsakov’s orchestral showpiece, Scheherazade.
On Sunday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Van Wezel, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Lahav Shani, performs excerpts from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet. Described by The Times of London as “the most astounding pianist of our age,” Daniil Trifonov joins the Orchestra for Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
First Prize winner in the 2021 Chopin International Piano Competition, and known for his incredible virtuosity, Bruce Liu performs a recital including Rameau, Ravel, Chopin, and Liszt. The concert takes place at Riverview Performing Art Center on Friday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m.
