Two Southwestern women who are dominating the Florida art scene are showcasing their artwork in Coastal Harmony – an art exhibition hosted by Drew Marc Gallery. Both Julie Schumer and Blair Vaugh Gruler are natives of Santa Fe, and several galleries around the nation have shown their artwork. They are transporting us back to the beloved coastal colors of Florida for this unique display. Their canvases are covered in ethereal blue pockets that instantly take you to the serene waves of Florida's Gulf Coast. The opening reception offers an excellent opportunity to explore new works of art, network with other collectors, and become fully immersed in the world of contemporary art. The exhibition will remain on display until January 12.

Julie Schumer – Soft Landing – 60”x48” – Acrylic on Canvas

After moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2002, Julie Schumer left the Northern California region and committed herself fully to her painting. She started painting abstracts with a lot of color and energy after retiring from her employment as a criminal defense attorney. These pieces have since developed into more reflective and contemplative ones.  Julie has exhibited her work in galleries across the country over the last 20 years. Her paintings have appeared in several publications and are held in both public and private collections, including the Tucson airport's public collection.

Blair Vaughn Gruler – Thought Bubbles – 48”x60” – Oil on Canvas

Blair Vaughn-Gruler is a painter whose work is mostly motivated by method. Foregrounding the body's relationship to painting, accumulation, repetition, erasure, and the physical gestures produced during the mark-making process are reminiscent of her many years of martial arts practice. Paint has always fascinated Vaughn-Gruler, a transplant from New Mexico who was born in Michigan. Her minimalist, non-objective compositions are spatial organization experiments. Even when lines or shapes overrepeat themselves, the chaos gives way to peace. Vaughn-Gruler is a conceptual painter who tries to balance her early modernist background with the realities of the information era.
