Abstract Narratives is an art exhibition that features new work from New York Artist Imani Bilal & Canadian artist Cobie Cruz. Both of these artists are newcomers to the Florida art scene. Each has been highly regarded as some of the best in their craft and have massive national followings. The exhibition will be on display through December but the opening reception is a great way to discover new art, engage with other collectors, and immerse yourself into a contemporary art universe.

Imani Bilal was born in New York City and lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a while before moving to Newark, New Jersey in July of 2022. Naturally rebellious, Bilal claims that opposition gives her creative freedom.  She is among a small community of innovative Black Muslim American women who aren't afraid to test the limits of their artistic abilities. In the field of contemporary art, Bilal is an enormous force, and is an artist that needs to be on everyone’s radar. She wowed the nation with her first solo exhibition in 2020, so much so that Forbes Magazine and Black Art in America published pieces about her.

She uses her hands, mouth, and miscellaneous objects to create a variety of effects that become part of a detailed yet flowing piece of art. She frequently paints while seated on the floor, putting her entire body into the composition.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Cobie Cruz came from a family of artists. Prior to beginning a professional painting career, he worked as an art director in advertising, and a television commercial director. Cobie Cruz was involved in a number of solo and group exhibitions before moving to Canada in 2005 with his family where he currently resides. He experiments with composition, color, and texture in his paintings. His vision of the world around him is reflected in the powerful and determined brushstrokes that are the result of both intention and spontaneity.

Every second Saturday of the month, Drew Marc Gallery will hold an opening exhibition with works by an increasing number of highly regarded local and national artists. Drew Marc Gallery is open from Thursday through Monday from 11 AM to 6 PM or by appointment.
