Ensuring Access To World-Class Full Life Care

“We are devoted to lifting our community by funding innovative Full Life Care for those who need it most.” - Delesa Morris, M.S., CFRE, Interim President, Tidewell Foundation

Presented by Tidewell Foundation September 6, 2023

Hospice care honors human dignity, recognizing that death is a human
experience that deserves to be surrounded with love, attention, and care.

When Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance don’t cover certain services, when people can no longer work and lose their insurance, many in our community are left unable to afford hospice care.

Generous donations to the Tidewell Foundation help ensure that all who need the world-class care of Tidewell Hospice and Empath Health affiliates can receive it, regardless of their ability to pay. Together, Tidewell Foundation and Tidewell Hospice provided more than $2 million in charity hospice care and $1.6 million in grief services last year for patients and families in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties.

Critical one-time support such as wheelchair ramps and rent payment, Nurse Residency training—to prepare the next generation of caregivers—and complementary services like pet therapy are all made possible by donors. Donations ensure we can not only help our community’s most vulnerable but also provide them with world-class full life care when they need it most.

  • The Tidewell Foundation profoundly impacts the community through grants to Tidewell Hospice, a not-for-profit hospice serving Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota counties.
  • From hospice care to children’s grief counseling, from Veterans services to music therapy, we brighten lives in our community thanks to generous donor support.
  • In 2022 alone, the Tidewell Foundation was able to gift back $4.5 million in grants to Tidewell Hospice and Empath Health, helping to provide full life care to more than 11,000 hospice and palliative care patients and their families.
  • Through generous donors, the Tidewell Foundation can expand these services while implementing new ones, such as additional grief centers that provide free support to the community.
