Continuing a Legacy of Arts, Education, and Impact

“The function of a museum is more than merely showing pictures. The museum is the place to integrate the arts and bring them alive.” A. Everett “Chick” Austin, First Director of The Ringling (1946-1957)

Presented by The Ringling Museum September 6, 2023

As the official State Art Museum of Florida and as part of Florida State University, The Ringling is the largest university-affiliated art museum in North America, serving as Florida’s center for arts, history, and learning. Bringing the past and contemporary culture to life through extraordinary visitor experiences, The Ringling is a place of exploration, discovery, and respite.

The Ringling’s collections are vast and varied. The Museum of Art features artwork spanning antiquity to today, with a focus on Renaissance, Baroque, Asian, and contemporary art, photography, and studio glass. The Ringling also encompasses Ca’ d’Zan, John, and Mable’s winter home built during the height of the Roaring Twenties; a Circus Museum full of exhilarating experiences; and a unique playground nestled within a breathtaking 66 acres of bayfront gardens.

Our donors and members are a driving force in stewarding the Ringlings’ legacy to provide visitors with a one-of-a-kind experience, making the estate and museums relevant to our time. With your help, our outreach programs engage local children and families in meaningful learning opportunities, building new and diverse audiences and growing our impact. We are also able to offer expansive exhibitions and performances that bring globally renowned artists and content to Sarasota.

Donors are invited to engage with The Ringling through behind-the-scenes opportunities such as expert-led tours of our conservation lab, curator-led talks, and conversations with living artists. The Ringling is a powerful and inspiring piece of Sarasota’s and Florida’s cultural heritage and an essential part of its future. We invite you to join us.
