Homegrown Good Taste: Savor Sarasota Celebrates the Area’s Culinary Treasures

18th Annual Event Runs June 1 to June 14.

Presented by Visit Sarasota County May 18, 2023

Savor Sarasota, a two-week celebration of Sarasota’s cuisine at local dining establishments, returns for its 18th season on June 1. From raw oysters to seared filet, Sarasota offers treats for every palate, and the event promises to tantalize all taste buds.

Savor Sarasota showcases the area’s favorite culinary styles and choices, offering diners the opportunity to experience area chefs’ delicious multicourse meals. Participating restaurants are all members of Visit Sarasota County (VSC) and present select lunch and dinner menus at fixed prices. Lunch menus will include two courses at $25 while dinner features will provide three courses for $40. Guests should be sure to inquire about any available meal upgrades as several restaurants are offering optional specialty dishes, wine pairings, and even wine flights that are designed to enhance the dining experience.

“Sarasota menus are as varied as the restaurants across the community,” VSC President Virginia Haley said. “From vegan to surf-n-turf, across modern, traditional, and international tables, the rewards are robust in this renowned Gulf Coast culinary hot spot.

SUMMERTIME: WHEN LOCALS GET TO DISCOVER NEW DISHES AND EXPLORE BELOVED RESTAURANTS

The 14-day program was initiated in 2006 as an opportunity to bring attention to local dining establishments during what was then called “the off-season.” While summertime roads are certainly busier these days, it is still easier to get a table in early June.

Savor Sarasota menus allow foodies and casual diners alike to experience our best local chefs’ dishes at a special, modest price, whether experimenting with a new taste or returning for a favorite bite. With challenges suffered through the last several years in every business sector, especially the restaurant industry, the program also gives diners the opportunity to support and celebrate the success of our legacy restauranteurs as well as recognize emerging establishments.

“The pandemic was especially hard-hitting to restaurants – their staff, their suppliers, the way they conduct services,” Haley said. “Those partners have been through so much and have come so far in such a short time. It is important to keep the momentum going.

Savor Sarasota provides the perfect vehicle to engage these economically significant community assets in an impactful way. Relish the area’s creative culinary treasures and, at the same time, diners are helping these businesses thrive. When business thrives, the community shines.”
