Harvest House is a local supportive housing and hunger relief provider with 10 campuses and 25 affordable rentals, including 380 beds and multiple programs throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Harvest House opened in 1992 with just 6 beds for men in recovery from substance abuse. Today, as one of the largest human services providers in the region, Harvest House serves individuals through programs uniquely designed for three overarching populations: families and young adults (ages 16-24) experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, and adult men and women with a history of incarceration and substance abuse. Harvest House offers case management, life-enrichment classes and programs, hunger relief, and clean, dignified housing. Here, participants achieve residential stability, increase their skill level, and obtain a greater understanding of their strengths and purpose. Many years of experience in human services have taught us that housing is just the starting point. The human services sector must offer opportunities for the whole person: the body, mind, and spirit. This holistic approach is the core to how Harvest House serves our community. We believe supportive and affordable housing programs improve the economic status of residents and stabilize lives for generations to come.
