MISSION: United Way Suncoast provides pathways to education and financial stability that give every person in our community the freedom to rise. We dismantle the barriers to human prosperity, uniting our community along the way.

Cause: Poverty & Hunger, Education

  • Our annual community investment funding delivered more than $1.3 million to 29 nonprofits in Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties including All Faiths Food Bank, Manasota Goodwill, Children First and the Women’s Resource Center.
  • We play an integral role in the Suncoast Campaign for Grade Level Reading which covers Manatee, Sarasota, DeSoto and Charlotte County. Working collaboratively with the school district and organizations like The Patterson Foundation, we’re elevating the number of third-grade students who can read on grade level.
  • We collaborate with early learning coalitions to support the Quality Childcare Initiative for selected early childcare centers in Sarasota, DeSoto, and Manatee counties.
  • Our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance efforts help thousands. In 2021, Sarasota and DeSoto volunteers prepared 1,758 returns resulting in $394,627 in refunds and saving taxpayers $351,600 in preparation fees.

We convene. We collaborate. We care. United Way Suncoast takes a decided focus on the interconnected issues of early learning, youth success and financial stability to build a healthy community across our five-county region: Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Pinellas and Hillsborough. Through our own programs and the annual multi-million dollar support we provide to nonprofits across the region, we sustain the efforts of ALICE families, those working parents and children who stand just one unexpected expense from dire struggle. When you give to United Way Suncoast, you boost parents hoping to infuse their toddlers with critical learning skills. When you give to United Way Suncoast, you light the way for third graders who successfully transition from learning to read to reading to learn. When you give to United Way Suncoast, you dress aspiring high school students in their graduation caps and gowns and put them on a path to success. When you give to United Way Suncoast, you instill workforce development skills in adults who long for a chance to earn their way in the world.

When you give to United Way Suncoast, you help fund a common cause that strengthens our community—every day.
