Committed to the Sarasota community, Maria served as a former board chair of the Healthy Start Coalition of Sarasota. She assisted in the relocation of and actively led the management of her family’s personal commercial and rental real estate holdings, simultaneously caring for her most influential role model, her mother Marie, until she passed in early 2021. Most recently, Maria has participated with her husband in developing a high-tech live probiotic skin health company, Dakota Biotech, LLC, based in Sarasota. This innovative new technology creates new job opportunities both locally and globally, bringing focus to the expertise in Florida and in particular Sarasota County, attracting similar, clean, high-tech companies to the area.
