MISSION: To assist people with disabilities and other barriers to employment, by providing job skills training and employment opportunities.

Goodwill Manasota’s local mission of “changing lives through the power of work” continues Goodwill’s 119-year-old commitment to provide employment and training opportunities for individuals facing significant barriers to self-sufficiency. Among these obstacles are disadvantaging conditions that range from having a criminal record, being an older worker or lacking a GED, to more disabling conditions, like veterans struggling with PTSD, or individuals with severe physical or learning disabilities. Our mission stands on the conviction of Goodwill’s founder, Reverend Edgar J. Helms, who believed that “everyone has the potential to work, and work provides dignity and empowerment for all individuals.” Goodwill Manasota’s services and programs address the unique needs of our residents by providing opportunities for a “hand up, not a handout”—not charity, but a chance.
