Mission: SunCoast Blood Centers provides a reliable supply of quality blood products and services to hospitals and health centers in need. Our singular purpose is to collect, test, process, match, store and distribute all the blood products required to serve the hospitals and health centers in our community.
ABOUT US
- Provide blood products to local hospitals from Sarasota, Manatee, De Soto, Charlotte, and Hillsborough counties
- Leaders in the industry by being the first to provide pathogen reduce platelets in the country
- Up to 50 percent of blood products are for cancer patients
- Moffitt Cancer Center, Florida Cancer Specialists, and soon Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s new Cancer Institute are hospitals SCBC serve
- The convalescent plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients is given to the hospital and patients “Free of Charge”

SunCoast Blood Centers (SCBC) is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit, best known for providing blood services to our community for 71 years. SCBC participates in research programs that create new vaccines and enhancing treatment therapies for patients. SCBC plays a large role in the treatment of cancer patients, and we constantly strive to discover newer, innovative approaches to transfusion medicine.
In March 2020, SCBC opened up a 25,000-square-foot facility in Lakewood Ranch, which features two new laboratories, a state-of-the-art donor facility designed to create a comfortable and pleasant experience for our donors.
SunCoast Blood Centers is on the frontlines of COVID-19, working 24/7 to provide Convalescent Plasma to the critically ill. Convalescent Plasma is a highly desired treatment recommended by physicians to combat the severe effects of COVID-19 and can only be donated by those who have recovered from the coronavirus.
