Gulf Gate’s landscape stays fresh with new entrepreneurs popping up all the time next to long standing mom and pops. It’s an exciting mix that makes the area one of Sarasota’s most unique districts. In between the really old and the really new is a mainstay at the corner of Gateway and Gulf Gate Drive, Off the Hook Seafood Co., ran by local favorite Chef Wes Duval. He keeps the locals coming back time and time again with his superior seafood dishes.  The restaurant’s grown so popular in recent years, they’ve expanded their dining area into what was Il Panificio (don’t worry, they’ve just moved down the road) and added on a fresh fish market to offer their loyal customers a quick stop in option to get select seafood on-the-go, and maybe a glass of wine while it’s being freshly cut and packaged. A light appetizer like the Beer Battered Cauliflower Bites tossed in thai sauce ($10) is a good starter or the delectable Caprese salad ($6).
