The special election was called because of the resignation of former state Rep. Alex Miller, R-Sarasota, who quit after serving less than a year in office.
The bill cuts the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent, eliminates the estate tax in 2024 and drops many personal deductions, among other things.
The Patterson Foundation is helping the Humane Society of Manatee County, the Peace River Wildlife Center, the Prospect Riding Center and Satchel’s Last Resort.
