Climate Adaptation Center Receives $300,000 Grant from Barancik Foundation

Sarasota's Climate Adaptation Center received a $300,000 grant from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation. The grant will accelerate the CAC’s mission to deliver accessible, peer-reviewed climate science that supports communities in adapting to the increasing challenges of a rapidly warming climate. 

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County recently issued $1,400,592 in grants to 30 nonprofits and educational institutions. Priority areas included expanding access to mental health services, providing financial aid and other forms of assistance to students, funding disease research and education, and increasing access to health care.

Florida Studio Theatre received a $150,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to support the naming of the Mainstage Sound and Lights Booth in the McGillicuddy Arts Plaza.

Local law firm Shumaker has made a $5,000 gift to Dreamers Academy,  Sarasota's only bilingual school. The funding will help advance literacy initiatives at Dreamers Academy, filling the school's bookshelves with age-appropriate books in English and Spanish.
