Sarasota County recently received a $75,000 grant from the U.S. Forest Service, allowing for the removal of invasive plants at Ted Sperling Park at South Lido Beach and North Jetty Park. The invasives will be replaced with native plants.

Publix Super Markets Charities recently awarded a grant of $335,000 to All Faiths Food Bank for the purchase of a new 26-foot refrigerated box truck and mobile food pantry support. 

The Florida Department of Education has awarded a $561,020 Pathways to Career Opportunities Program grant to State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota to expand its FleetForce Truck Driver Training commercial driver license (CDL) apprenticeship program. 

Alta Vista Elementary is the newest recipient of Florida Power & Light Company’s $50,000 STEM Classroom Makeover Grant. Alta Vista is one of 20 schools across Florida that were selected for grants for the 2024-25 school year.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County recently awarded a $15,000 grant to North Port Meals on Wheels.
