Climate Adaptation Center Announces 2025 Climate Champions

The Climate Adaptation Center has announced its 2025 Climate Champion honorees:  David Kotok, co-founder of Cumberland Advisors; Karen Holbrook, outgoing chancellor of USF Sarasota-Manatee; AG Lafley, CEO of The Bay; and Tracie Troxler, founder of Sunshine Community Compost.

Williams Parker has announced that Bonnie Lee Polk has been reappointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. The commission is tasked with selecting nominees to fill judicial vacancies created in Sarasota, Manatee and Desoto Counties which are designated to be filled via appointment by the governor’s office.

All Faiths Food Bank has announced its 2025 board of directors: Patricia Courtois, chair; Dr. LaShawn Frost, vice chair; Rich Cautero, treasurer; and Mitch Olan, secretary. New members are Dr. Rose BáezSusan HolikLisa Krouse and Bill Seider, who join continuing directors Ron JadinLisa Keverian-Press and David Nichols, and board emeritus Keith Monda

Music Compound has hired Mariana Lyons as administrative coordinator and Addyson Brown and Julia Stroud as music lounge assistants. Harper Weyant has been promoted to client coordinator. New instructors are Gavin McCoy (drums), Alex Perez (multi-instrumentalist) and Donna Zanger (piano and Musical Theatre program support and accompaniment).

The Suncoast Jewish Alliance recently elected board members for the upcoming term. They are Norman Olshansky (president), Julie Friedman (vice president), Wendy Wicks (secretary); and Lisa Barzel (treasurer). Other members of the board include Uzi Baram, Karen Kade, David Kaufman and Robin Taub Williams.

Gov. Ron DeSantis recently announced the reappointment of Joseph Jacquot and Charles Kesler to the New College of Florida Board of Trustees

Moms for America recently awarded Graci McGillicuddy with a 2024 "Mothers of Influence Award" in honor of her advocacy for children and families. 

Expansions and upgrades to the Bee Ridge Water Reclamation Facility in Sarasota County recently received an Envision Gold award from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.

The Naples-based Ronto Group has announced that luxury realtor Julie Guirguis has been named sales associate for the new Rosewood Residences Lido Key.
