Manasota ASALH Names Jada Wright-Greene Executive Director

Plus, Senior Friendship Centers' Erin McLeod receives U.S. President's Volunteer Service Award/Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.

Erin McLeod, president and CEO of Senior Friendship Centers, has been selected as the recipient of the United States President’s Volunteer Service Award/The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes McLeod's dedication and service to the community over the past 20 years.

The board of directors for the Manasota Branch of ASALH has extended an offer to Jada Wright-Greene to serve as the organization's first executive director.

The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid recently awarded Sarasota Memorial Hospital with its highest 5-star overall star rating for the ninth year in a row. 

Manatee Community Foundation has announced its 2024 Scholars Program scholarship awards. Ninety-three scholarships were granted this year for a total of $223,063.40 awarded. Among the recipients, 74 are Manatee County students, and 15 are Sarasota County students.

Nautilus Homes was recently recognized with top honors at the 2024 Southeast Building Conference. Ryan Perrone, founder and president of Nautilus Homes, received four Grand Aurora awards, including “Best Custom Home” (5,000-10,000 square feet), “Best Kitchen” (for a custom, one-of-a-kind spec home), “Best Interior Detailing” (for a home priced over $1 million), and “Best Sustainability” for his company’s exceptional work on "Island Breeze," a 6,100-square-foot custom residence on Siesta Key

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe has awarded its annual WBTT Artist Development Scholarships, with five students receiving scholarships of $2,000 each. They are Miracle Deveaux (Dr. Robert Mayer and Dr. Jody Beresford Scholarship); Astrid McIntyre (Marian Moss Scholarship); Amillia Samuels (Steve and Shari Ashman Scholarship); Zion Thompson (Charles and Susan Wilson Scholarship); and Canela Vasquez (Kitty and John Cranor Scholarship).

Safe Children Coalition (SCC) has announced its 2024-2025 board of directors.

All Faiths Food Bank has been named one of Florida’s "Best Companies To Work For" by Florida Trend magazine.

The Library Foundation for Sarasota County has appointed two new members to its board of directorsAlexandra Jupin and Mark Steinwachs will each serve three-year terms.

Amy Gorman has been named director of development for The Sarasota Players.
