The Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast has hired Robyn Powell as its new controller

Goodwill Manasota has announced its 2024 Community Ambassador of the Year honorees: Janine “Mama” Lutz (Veteran Advocate of the Year), Cliff Walters (Community Leader of the Year) and All Faiths Food Bank and Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee (Community Partners of the Year).

New College Foundation Inc. has added two new members to its board of directors for 2024-2025: A.J. Janson and Mike Rahn.

The Hermitage Artist Retreat has announced that Alice Court, Tim Flood and Peter Offringa (Sarasota) have been elected to the Hermitage board of trustees. In addition, longtime Hermitage supporters and Sarasota arts philanthropists Charlie Huisking and Flora Major have been unanimously elected as the Hermitage’s first honorary trustees. Earlier this season, past Hermitage trustees Larry Bold, Tom Dignam, and Andy Maass were recognized by the Hermitage as emeritus trustees.

Manatee Community Foundation has added four members to its board of directors. They are Mike Moschella, Monaca S. Onstad, Dr. Jan Pullen and Kristen Truong.

Sarasota County Schools has appointed Sean Donovan as the new principal of Oak Park School

Terry Shen, a rising senior at Pine View School, recently participated in the 80th American Legion's Boys State. Shen was selected as a delegate and was elected governor during the conference, Boys State's highest elected office.

Congressman Vern Buchanan announced today that nine Manatee and Hillsborough county students have received an appointment to one of the country's U.S. Service Academies. They are Andrew Mikell Thompson (United States Military Academy), Aspen Benigni (United States Naval Academy), Joshua Wolff (United States Air Force Academy), Jack Matthew Spain (United States Military Academy), Misi Rose Sigler (United States Military Academy), Saige Starford (United States Military Academy), Nathaniel Hewett (United States Military Academy), Gavin Wolfgang Schlosser (United States Naval Academy) and Morgan Alison Hunt (United States Naval Academy and the United States Air Force Academy).

Aviva Senior Living, a not-for-profit senior rental residential community, has announced appointments to its board of trustees: Eric Fox will become the organization’s board chair for a two-year term and Mark Cole, Alan Funk and Alan Goldner will join the board as trustees for a three-year term.

VenuesNow, a B2B trade publication for live entertainment venues, recently ranked the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall's production of Hamilton the No. 2 show in U.S. theaters for tickets sold and No. 4 worldwide for venues under 2,000 seats. The Van Wezel's 2023-2024 season took the No. 2 spot for most tickets sold in the U.S., and the hall was also ranked as the No. 4 venue worldwide for ticket sales for venues under 2,000 seats.
