Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee Receives the Largest Gift in Its History

Plus, Florida Center for Early Childhood receives a $1 million grant from the Barancik Foundation and more.

The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee has announced a gift from Drs. Joel and Gail Morganroth, which brings their total investment to more than $6 million, making it the largest combined gift in the Federation’s history.

The Florida Center for Early Childhood has received a $1 million grant from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation to strengthen programs and capacity

Safe Children Coalition (SCC) recently received $750,000 in support of its efforts to build a new Youth Shelter that will help to alleviate waiting lists and support SCC's efforts to reunite families. The funds were awarded through the state's Department of Juvenile Justice. SCC also recently received a grant of $10,000 from the Manatee Community Foundation that was initially intended for hurricane relief but was able to be used for hurricane kits for foster families in Manatee County in the face of Hurricane Idalia.

Elsa and Peter Soderberg have provided a three-year lead gift of $600,000 to help All Faiths Food Bank subsidize three new mobile pantries in remote areas of DeSoto County, as well as offer benefits assistance, nutrition education, wrap-around services on-site and compensation for a truck driver. The funding will be distributed on a payment schedule running through June 30, 2026.

Forty Carrots Family Center recently received a second gift of $50,000 from William Brown and Stephanie Filippi Brown to support mental health services through Forty Carrots’ Mental Health Program.

Sarasota Orchestra has received a $35,000 grant from The Exchange in support of the 2023-2024 Young Person’s Concerts (YPC)

Gettel Automotive Group has donated $25,000 to the Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair program at Parrish Community High to develop and employ young, skilled, local students for jobs in the automotive service field.

Tidewell Foundation recently received a grant of $10,000 from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to support Tidewell Grief Care’s Blue Butterfly Family Grief Program.

The Junior League of Sarasota recently awarded Embracing Our Differences  an $8,500 grant to support EOD’s Coexistence Clubs at eight schools in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

The Child Protection Center, Inc. (CPC) has been awarded a $2,500 grant to support therapy staff by the Kiwanis Foundation of Sarasota County. CPC was also recently awarded a $5,822 grant by the Venice Coldwell Banker Realty Cares Foundation to continue the foundation’s support of CPC's Children and Families Supervised Visitation Program (CFSVP)

Resilient Retreat received a $1,000 grant from the Michael Saunders and Company Foundation for training first responders and helping professionals during a time of critical need.

Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College of Art and Design has launched an educational resource for teachers and students, made possible in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The new resource, titled INSIDE OUT: Educator and Student Resources K-12, features a series of videos and educator guides designed to teach multiple subjects through the study of contemporary art. The amount of the funding was undisclosed.
