Selby Gardens Receives $1 Million Pledge to Support Master Plan

Plus, The Ringling receives more than $100,000 in grant funding for creative aging programs and more.

The Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation recently approved more than $8 million in grants for mental health, early childhood education, emergency assistance, projects that promote environmental sustainability, and more. Much of the funding addresses critical needs for nonprofit partners to elevate staff wages, expand programs, and stabilize organizational infrastructure.  

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens recently announced that philanthropist Richard Matson has made a $1 million pledge bequest to support the Master Plan for its downtown Sarasota campus.

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art announced an award of $109,907 in grant funding from E.A. Michelson Philanthropy to continue the development of advocating, training, and funding creative aging programs.

The Gulf Coast Community Foundation has granted the Elling O. Eide Center $7,270 to purchase archival housing for a collection of founder Elling O. Eide's papers to keep it safe from light exposure, pests, and airborne dirt and dust. Archival storage will stabilize the collection, minimize future deterioration, and make access to the collection safe and possible.

The Patterson Foundation is honoring its decade-long partnership with the national Campaign for Grade-Level Reading with a $250,000 contribution to the movement. The gift will strengthen efforts to promote early school success, stop learning loss and accelerate academic recovery in more than 350 communities throughout North America.

The Child Protection Center, Inc. (CPC) has been awarded $10,000 through the Kathryn H. Beach Charitable Fund at Gulf Coast Community Foundation. These funds will go directly to restoring the elevator at CPC, updating code compliance, and ensuring children continue to receive safe services.
