Community Foundation of Sarasota County Awards Nearly $180,000 in Grants

Plus, Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium receives support from the Manatee Community Foundation and more local grants.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has awarded 12 nonprofit organizations grants totaling nearly $180,000 in its most recent competitive large grant cycle. The support will strengthen programming among a diverse group of nonprofit organizations with an overall aim to expand access to their services, which range from veterans’ support to financial literacy training. Recipients are Adventure for All, Easterseals Southwest Florida, Friends of the Lakewood Ranch Library, Good Samaritan Pharmacy & Health Services, Harbor58, Just for Girls, Minorities in Shark Sciences, National Alliance on Mental Illness Sarasota and Manatee Counties, Inc., Operation Warrior Resolution, Punta Gorda Historic Mural Society Inc., St. Vincent dePaul CARES; and Step Up Suncoast Inc.

Gulf Coast Community Foundation recently awarded multiple grants, including $100,000 to Venice Area Beautification Inc.; a $60,000 Arts Appreciation Grant to Marie Selby Botanical Gardens; a $50,000 Community Grant to Children First; and a $5,000 Dignity for Kids Grant to Mothers Helping Mothers Inc.

Bank of America recently announced that Turning Points has been named as the 2022 Bank of America Neighborhood Champion for their work in the Manatee County community to remove economic barriers and advance economic opportunity.  Turning Points will receive $50,000 in grant support and an opportunity for engagement in virtual leadership training delivered by experts in the nonprofit sector on topics like human capital management, increasing financial sustainability, and storytelling. 

Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium recently announced that Mote’s C-STEM Program has received an award of $10,000 from The Weichel Family Fund of the Manatee Community Foundation
