ALSO Youth, a nonprofit organization serving Sarasota and Manatee counties' LGBTQ+ youth community, has announced Mickey J. Stone as its new executive director. Stone will assume the role on June 28, 2021. He arrives at ALSO Youth with more than 20 years of experience working with youth as an educator and program director for nonprofit youth organizations. In his prior roles, Stone has created curriculum for adolescent youths, developed after-school programs and facilitated training and workshops for youth and parents. Stone succeeds interim executive director Donna Hanley.

Additionally, ALSO Youth recently awarded five scholarships to local youth: Quinn DuBre (Riverview High School), Kiarra Jenkins (Booker High School), Alexis Snyder (North Port High School) and Charles Timmons (Booker High School). Addison Ford received the inaugural Greg Jung Memorial Scholarship in honor of Jung, a logtime local educator.
