In the spirit of Valentine's Day, Manatee County Animal Services (MCAS) is waiving adoption fees in lieu of a donation to Friends of Manatee County Animal Services (FoMCAS) for all pets from Feb. 13 through Feb. 28. Adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip and rabies certificate, a $300 value. Manatee County residents are required to license their new pet for an additional $20. At press time, MCAS has 47 dogs and 13 cats at its shelter. In 2020, MCAS took in an average of seven animals per day; it also operates a Pet Pantry program that offers free food and supplies to pet owners facing financial and housing hardships.
