Local heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) companies are partnering with CareerEdge and Suncoast Technical College (STC) to offer a free fast-track HVAC installation and maintenance program, which will launch in September. The training addresses the needs of HVAC employers that want to recruit and rapidly train people for a very specific skill set—namely the installation and maintenance process— and then develop these employees further over time through internships and apprenticeship programs. 

The tuition-free class will begin Sept. 29 and conclude in December, with classes held in the evening Monday through Wednesday from 5:30-9 p.m.) at STC’s main campus.  The program will also include CareerEdge’s "Bridges to Careers" soft skills training and internships.  HVAC company representatives will volunteer to teaching modules in the class to enhance the hands-on, real-world nature of the program. Graduates are guaranteed jobs with the participating employers at an average starting wage of $15 per hour.
