Sarasota County administrator Tom Harmer announced this week that he has accepted an offer to become the next Longboat Key town manager. The Longboat Key Town Commission will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, July 17, to formally consider a contract with Harmer. Harmer called the decision to leave Sarasota County government "extremely difficult" and that if the Longboat commission approves his new contract he will leave his current position in December.
