During a contentious and chaotic meeting, the Sarasota City Commission voted Monday evening to continue discussion of a 393-unit affordable housing complex proposed by Harvey Vengroff along Fruitville Road. But the future of the project is in doubt, due to an attempt by some city commissioners to require inspections of the apartments, a proposal opposed by Vengroff. The City Commission will take up the issue again Monday, May 16.
