The Gulf Coast Community Foundation has issued a $40,000 “Arts Appreciation” grant to Florida Studio Theatre for the second consecutive year. These funds will underwrite FST’s 2015-16 winter mainstage and cabaret seasons and also sponsor FST’s season fund raiser in February.
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (scf.edu), which recently was named a top military-friendly school for the sixth year, will award its first scholarships for veterans beginning with the spring 2016 term thanks to these donors: American Legion NO-VEL Post 159 in Venice, the Venice and Sarasota Kiwanis Clubs, Sarasota Military Officers Association, Northwestern Mutual Foundation, Giving Girls Giving Circle, VFW Post 2488 Ladies Auxiliary, SCF Foundation Board members Michael Fuller and Dorothy Korszen, and others. Currently, nearly 370 veterans and their dependents are enrolled at SCF.
Pines of Sarasota Rehabilitation and Senior Care Community will receive a match from The Patterson Foundation to jump-start its efforts to implement an earned-income plan. The Patterson Foundation will match dollar for dollar up to 50 percent of contributions made to the organization’s earned-income startup costs through the end of the year.
