CS&L CPAs hosted a pre-Valentine’s Day “Cookies for Charities” contest to support local nonprofits. Employees were asked to decorate cookies, with winners selecting organizations to receive funds. The top three winners chose to donate $250 to the American Cancer Society, $100 to the Humane Society of Manatee County and $50 to the American Heart Association. The contest was developed by the firm’s CS&L CAREs program, which provides employees with opportunities to help local organizations.

Goodwill Manasota’s Supported JobsPlus program, which helps Goodwill create jobs for individuals with disabilities, was awarded two grants: one of $5,000 from the Jerry and Fay Bainbridge Foundation and another for $1,000 from the Mary E. Parker Foundation. Visit experiencegoodwill.org to learn more about the programs Goodwill offers.

Several of The Sarasota Manatee Originals restaurants, including The Broken Egg, Jpan Sarasota and Café Venice Restaurant & Wine Bar, will donate 10 percent of tomorrow’s sales to The Payton Wright Foundation, a Sarasota-based nonprofit organization that provides assistance to families caring for children with brain cancer. Proceeds of this inaugural event will go specifically to the Payton’s Angels program, providing DVDs, games, coloring books and soft blankets to bring a bit of home to the hospitalized children.
