Caldwell Trust Company has established a scholarship through the State College of Florida Foundation Inc. to benefit Sarasota county residents who enroll as full-time students in SCF’s two- and four-year programs. CTC contributed $5,000 to the Caldwell Trust Company Scholarship Fund, which will award the first three scholarships in the 2014-15 academic year.  Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s board of directors recently approved nearly $2 million in grants recommended by donors who have established charitable funds at the foundation.  The grant awards were ratified at the board’s June meeting.  Board members also approved $52,185 in community grants of $10,000 or less to area nonprofit organizations and nearly $8,000 for small projects funded through the GulfCoastGives.org charitable fund raising website. Junior Achievement of Manatee/Sarasota received more than $18,000 from 28 private guests at its annual Cocktails & Conversation event held last month at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse in Sarasota. The organization also introduced the new LEAD (Learn. Explore. Achieve. Dream.) programs, which teach children in grades K-12 the skills necessary to be college and career ready.

 


 

Recoding Organizational DNA, an initiative created by The Patterson Foundation and Marbut Consulting that seeks to reduce homelessness in Sarasota, has selected the following organizations to take part in its six workshops: All Faiths Food Bank, Inc.; Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc.; The Center of Hope of South County, Inc.; Coastal Behavioral Healthcare, Inc.; Family Promise of Sarasota; The Glasser/Schoenbaum Human Services Center; Goodwill Manasota, Inc.; Harvest House Transitional Centers; Hope Kids Community; Jewish Family & Children’s Service of the Suncoast, Inc.; Legal Aid of Manasota, Inc.;  Resurrection House, Inc.;  The Salvation Army; Sarasota Family YMCA; Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness, Inc.; Trinity Without Borders, Inc; and United Way 2-1-1 of Manasota, Inc.
