Employees of Bradenton-based It Works! Global have collected more than 6,500 food items to help restock the shelves of Sally’s Pantry, the food pantry for the Salvation Army in Bradenton. In August, the pantry had to close its doors to hundreds of families after food supplies ran out. The donation from It Works! Global will help the pantry open once a month for existing clients, and it kicked off the Salvation Army’s annual fall food drive, Oct. 14-Nov. 29.

Children First has received a $20,000 grant from Wilson-Wood Foundation, Inc. to provide child care scholarships for under-served children and families. The Sport Clips location at University Parkway and Tuttle Avenue in Sarasota will join more than 1,100 locations across the country in an effort to raise $575,000 for the company’s annual “Help A Hero” fund-raising campaign, benefiting the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The funds raised will help offer scholarships, up to $5,000, for veterans pursuing post-secondary education. Donations will be collected in-store through Veterans Day, Nov. 11, when Sports Clips locations across the country will donate $1 for every haircut served. The local store will also offer free haircuts to any veteran or serving military member on that day.
