My Worst Mistake
When I purchased Willis A. Smith in 1989, I didn’t have a strategic plan. I knew how to be a project manager, but I needed to develop skills to build a company. Once I put one together, our company became more successful. It charted our direction—the type of projects, geographic location and building the right resume—that qualified us for certain types of work.
