During this year's “high season,” when northerners descend upon the Gulf Coast to escape winters and often shop for a home, there will be more options to choose from in Wellen Park. A new neighborhood of single-family homes, called Antigua, and as well as Veranda condominiums within the Wellen Park Golf & Country Club, have hit the market.

Antigua is a gated neighborhood of 177 single-family homes with water and preserve views. There are four open floorplans that range from three to four bedrooms, up to three bathrooms, and 1,677 to 2,201 square feet of air-conditioned living space. Antigua homes have two-car garages and covered outdoor areas. Primary suites include walk-in closets and bathrooms.

A model home featuring the Marsala floor plan is under construction and anticipated to open early in the first quarter of 2023. The three-bedroom, three-bath home has a den, a kitchen with a freestanding island and a walk-in pantry, and a primary suite with two walk-in closets and a full bathroom. Homes in the new neighborhood are priced from the high $300,000s, competitive in a Sarasota County real estate market with a median home price of $497,275, according to the latest data. 

Future homebuyers will be within walking distance to CoolToday Park, the spring training home of the Atlanta Braves. They will also have access to a two-mile walking trail that will eventually connect to a future K-8 school and high school.

Lennar, the homebuilder that completed the nearby Tortuga neighborhood also in Wellen Park, has released the first phase of Veranda condominiums in Wellen Park Golf & Country Club. In two-story buildings overlooking golf, lake and preserve views, Veranda condominiums is a bundled golf community with three floor plans ranging from 1,355 to 1,569 square feet of living space, lanais and screened entryways. Veranda condominiums are priced from the low to mid $300,000s.

The neighborhood’s resort amenity complex has tennis, pickleball, bocce courts, restaurants, a lagoon pool with lap lanes, a fitness center, spa and salon services, a dog park, and a grand clubhouse with a grill, a formal dining room and gathering areas.

In addition to these two projects, Lennar recently launched single-family home sales at Wellen Park Golf & Country Club in June 2022. Model homes are under construction and expected to open in early 2023, along with the 18-hole Gordon Lewis-designed golf course.

Consistently ranked among the U.S.’s top-selling communities annually by real estate consulting firm RCLCO, Wellen Park’s expansion also includes paired villas, coach homes and condominiums, one- to three-bedroom apartments and rental homes, a rental apartment community for active adults 55 and older, and independent, assisted living and memory care.

The community currently has approximately 9,500 residents, and at full buildout will have more than 50,000 residents and 22,500 homes within its three districts: West Villages, Playmore and Downtown Wellen.
