Murray Homes came up big at the 2020 Southeast Builders Conference Aurora Awards, with a Golden Aurora Award—Best in Show—for its construction of the Modern Urban Retreat in Sarasota’s West of Trail neighborhood of Cherokee Park.

(The home, designed by Guy Peterson Office for Architecture, went on the market for the first time in May for $4 million with Joel Schemmel of Premier Sotheby's International Realty and went under contract quickly and it closed in mid-August.)

Home building industry professionals from 12 Southeastern states and the Caribbean competed in the 41st annual competition.

Among other area award winners:

A Grand Aurora Award for Best Renovated or Restored Single House went to Ross Built LLC for a Sarasota bayfront home, designed by Riveting Designs.

A Silver Aurora Award for Best Rehabilitation Project went to Inbar Architecture for its renovation of the CAN Community Health headquarters on Fruitville Road.

Silver Aurora Awards for Best Custom Home Under 4,000 Square Feet went to Perrone Construction for the Fish Camp on Useppa Island, an island retreat that pays homage to the old Florida stilt homes that dot the Charlotte Harbor coastline; and to Ross Built LLC for the O’Daly Residence in Bradenton, designed by Sweet Sparkman Architects.

Perrone Construction also won a Silver Aurora Award for Best Custom Home 4,000-6,000 Square Feet for Villa Azure, a coastal contemporary single-family residence on Longboat Key.
