Winner: The Victoria Master Bath by John Cannon Homes
John Cannon and Barbara Benigni, John Cannon Homes; Kay Green Design An ultra-luxurious master bath with full glass-wall doors that open up the room to the outdoors becomes a private spa-like sanctuary in John Cannon Homes’ Victoria model in The Concession. The homeowner can choose from three equally indulgent experiences: an oversized tub crowned with a crystal chandelier; a separate oversized shower with digitally controlled multifunction chromotherapy and a window that looks into the courtyard; and a second, outdoor, shower adjacent to a waterfall. Our judges said: “Flat-out gorgeous” and “a dramatic combo of texture and materials.”

Jill Geisdorf, Chic on the Cheap, Forest Lakes bath
Jill writes: “A small, outdated bathroom became large, contemporary and inviting. A two-person soaking tub flows seamlessly into the almost nine-foot-long shower; the tub deck extends to become a full-length bench for the shower. The bench terminates into a multi-level recess outfitted with a metallic accent tile. This accent tile is repeated at the window and the full width of the sink vanity. The sink is a double vessel bowl and the mirror emphasizes the width of the sink. The floor is a rich chocolate porcelain tile, the shower features a stone tile and the countertops are quartz.”

Jill Geisdorf, Chic on the Cheap, North Longboat Key bath
Jill writes: “The homeowner desired a 'spa' feel and had a few specific requests: makeup station, freestanding tub, toilet and bidet in one, a small shower. Once I found the large white textured Porcelanosa tile, which gave depth but kept things light and airy, the space really started coming together. The space is neutral but complex. It’s about texture and movement, reflected in the tile choices and cabinetry material.”

Sonika Dechow, Sonika Designs, Lake Sarasota
Sonika writes: “What makes this guest bathroom exceptional is the strong visual impact of the design achieved on a very tight budget. It is a little oasis filled with plants basking in the flood of natural light. What I love most about it is the feeling it evokes: tranquility. Its small footprint consists of all the necessities: a sink with vanity, toilet and tub/shower combination. The whole room is lit with the light from a clerestory window in the shower, providing enough daylight for live plants to grow on floating shelves between the vanity and shower. A custom shower curtain spans the entire height of the space to create the illusion of a taller ceiling.”

Chelsea Dunbar, Blu Interiors, Palmetto bath
Chelsea writes: “This bathroom is clean and simple, and we chose really great finishes that tied everything together really nicely. The room has a vaulted ceiling and a "drive-thru" shower. We love how it came together.”

Chelsea Dunbar, Blu Interiors. Southside-area half-bath
Chelsea writes: “This is a very fun half-bath. We love the use of gold and blues—very coastal but still contemporary. We used Walker Zanger cement tile, which really is the feature of the space. Our favorite element is the wall sconce. We tried to use the sconce originally in another room and it didn't fit but it looks perfect in this half-bath.”

Joseph Clark, Chic on the Cheap, Siesta Key condo renovation
Joseph writes: “By using white entirely in the bathroom, combined with the influx of natural light through the frosted glass doors, the classic and modern elements blended seamlessly. To keep the space feeling cozy, the same wood-look vinyl was brought right into the bathroom, which maintains the warmth and accentuates the clean, modern and ‘beachy’ aesthetic of this property.”

Jeremy Strong, Cabinets Extra, Rivo at Ringling
Jeremy writes: “A one-of-a-kind transitional design with a slight touch of the Oriental, as the clients desired a Japanese soaking tub and his-and-her shower. Exquisite high-end materials include remote control (Bluetooth) shower valves, lighting and attention to detail in a difficult building to work in due to condominium restrictions.”

Jessica Napoli, Chic on the Cheap, Kanaya
Jessica writes: “Bathrooms can easily feel cold, small, and too ‘vanilla.’ Using contrasting light and dark materials, working from a neutral spectrum, not only made the space a showstopper, but it also created an oasis that is soothing and relaxing. Without actually changing the layout, the goal was to make the room appear larger. Part of this was accomplished by running slate flooring right up the wall in the shower. Also we removed the four-foot knee wall and replaced it with glass shower panels, the shower itself felt as though it had been enlarged as well. In the tub area, by utilizing a white tile for the tub surround, the theme of running materials up the wall to expand the look continued. "
