Sales of single-family homes in Florida totaled 20,543 last month, up 2 percent when compared to October 2016, according to new numbers released by Florida Realtors on Tuesday. The increase shows that Florida's housing market has recovered from a slowdown caused by Hurricane Irma's landfall in September, according to the trade group. The number of single-family home sales in September was 20.4 percent lower than the number in September 2016. Sales prices also increased in October: The statewide median sales price for single-family homes last month was $235,558, up 7.1 percent from the previous year.
