The commercial construction company Halfacre Construction Company broke ground this week on a new warehouse and freezer building for the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. The new pre-engineered metal building will be used for food storage at the Port Manatee jail. The 12,250-square-foot structure with have an 1,800-square-foot freezer inside. The county currently feeds 1,100 inmates three times a day at its Central Jail. The $1.9 million project is slated for completion this October.
