The burgeoning Rosemary District north of Fruitville Road in downtown Sarasota is about to get even busier, as the upscale modern condo project, Risdon on 5th, broke ground June 14.  Fourteen of the 22 residential units already have sold, according to developer Steve Bradley of The Risdon Group, and six of the commercial spaces also have sold. (Bradley says the intended commercial uses include an art gallery, an architect, a real estate developer and a custom sign company.)  The gated complex was designed by the award-winning Sarasota architectural firm of Halflants & Pichette. Completion is expected in Summer 2017.

The Risdon Group also recently purchased a nearby building at 435 Central Ave. and renamed it The Risdon. The Risdon consists of 16,000 square feet of mixed-use space, including seven apartments and five retail and office spaces, and is fully occupied. Modifications to the existing building will include aesthetic enhancements to the streetscape, including the addition of contemporary exterior awnings and custom planters and columns.

DR Horton has opened a second decorated model in Toscana Isles, its new Mediterranean-style gated community in north Venice. The Edison is a 1,983-square-foot home with three bedrooms, two baths and a three-car garage. It joins the Wheaton model, with 2,520 square feet of living space, three bedrooms, den, dining room, three-and-a-half baths and a three-car garage. An 8,000-square-foot clubhouse is currently under construction, with completion expected in early fall. Toscana Isles is located one mile east of the I-75 Laurel Road exit on Knight’s Trail.
