In a city known for its vibrant arts scene and growing culinary landscape, Arts & Central is bringing something different to the table. Blending creative cuisine, local art, live music and a welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant has become a place where food and community come together.

Arts & Central is Born

The concept began as a passion project for the Henson family, whose Sarasota roots span four generations. During a cross-country RV trip through Sonoma, California, the family discovered restaurants offering exceptional cuisine in relaxed, inviting settings. Inspired by the experience, they set out to bring that same approach to Sarasota.

Building Out The Dream

Working with local architect Barron Schimberg, the family created a thoughtfully designed space featuring warm wood floors, inviting lighting and acoustics that allow guests to enjoy live music while still having a conversation. On cooler evenings, oversized glass doors open to an outdoor gathering space complete with a fire pit.

The restaurant's diverse menu offers something for everyone, from colorful tuna tartare and beet and pea hummus to wagyu filet, fresh seafood and a standout burger. Led by a culinary team of three chefs, including an executive chef trained in Michelin-starred European restaurants, the kitchen combines creativity with approachable dining.

The Difference Maker

But what truly sets Arts & Central apart is its commitment to Sarasota's creative community. Each week, the restaurant prints new menus featuring artwork from local artists on the dinner menus and poetry from Sarasota writers on the lunch menus. Guests are encouraged to take the menus home, while monthly artist gatherings bring the featured contributors and community together.

For those looking for a unique dining experience, Arts & Central also features a chef's bar overlooking the open kitchen, a private wine room and monthly four-course wine dinners.
